Park51 Applies for Public Grant

Posted by Ryan Mauro On December - 7 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

The developers behind Park51, often referred to as the Ground Zero mosque and Islamic center, are applying for the $5 million Lower Manhattan Development Grant meant to rebuild the part of New York City devastated on 9/11. Should they succeed, some of their programs will be subsidized by American taxpayers against their will.

Park51 has confirmed their application, saying that although the money cannot go directly to religious services, the grant will fund “domestic violence prevention, Arabic and other foreign language classes, programs and services for homeless veterans, two multi-cultural art exhibits and immigration services.” In other words, the taxpayers will pay for Park51’s outreach to the community.

“All I know is that we asked for assistance from the LMDC to give our dead decent and proper burials and were rejected,” said Dianne Horning of WTC Families for a Proper Burial.

From CAN:

The developers behind the Ground Zero mosque and Islamic center project, now called Park51, have applied for a $5 million federal grant to help rebuild lower Manhattan, various press outlets are reporting.

The Daily Beast reports that the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. grant would not be allowed to fund the actual mosque, but could help pay for non-religious projects by those behind Park51. Sharif el-Gamal, the developer of the Ground Zero mosque, says they’d use the money for non-religious social services like Arabic classes.

From CAN:

The YouTube channel of the Stop Islamization of America organization has posted new audio of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the head of the Park51 project to build a mosque and Islamic center near Ground Zero, calling on the U.S. to support “an Islamic state.”

The audio from 2006 calls on the U.S. to engage Hamas, with Rauf boasting of advising former Secretary of State Madeline Albright on the issue.

“She supported a Jewish State in the Middle East; why not support an Islamic State?” Rauf is heard saying.

Imam Rauf Partner a 9/11 Conspiracy Theorist

Posted by Ryan Mauro On September - 23 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

From CAN:

The Investigative Project on Terrorism has discovered that Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the Ground Zero mosque and Islamic center project, has partnered with Faiz Khan, a 9/11 conspiracy theorist.

Khan is on the advisory board of a group called “Muslims for 9/11 Truth” and is one of the founders of the Muslim-Jewish-Christian Alliance for 9/11 Truth that believes the attacks of September 11, 2001 were an “inside job” by the government.

“There’s no such thing as a Saudi nation, there is a royal sleazy family there. And there is no such thing as the American nation when it comes to 9/11 because there’s a sleazy mob, if you will, in the White House that co-opts Washington, D.C. and actualizes the agendas of Wall Street. That is the way things have worked all throughout history,” Khan is seen saying on videotape obtained by the Investigative Project.

Michael Moore Raises $50,000 for Park51

Posted by Ryan Mauro On September - 23 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the head of the project to construct a mosque and Islamic center near Ground Zero, has a new fundraiser: Michael Moore. The anti-American filmmaker has rallied his acolytes to support Park51, as the project is called, and has already raised over $50,000 for it. Given Moore’s history, his decision to support an imam with suspicious ties and beliefs is not surprising.

“I am opposed to the building of the ‘mosque’ two blocks from Ground Zero. I want it built on Ground Zero,” Moore wrote on his website, arguing that it would showcase America’s freedoms and help Muslims take Islam back from the extremists. He also demeaned those who oppose Park51, also called the Cordoba Initiative, saying, “fascists are extremely skilled at whipping up fear and hate and getting the working class to blame ‘the other’ for their troubles.”

Major Donor to Ground Zero Mosque Also Gave to Hamas Front

Posted by Ryan Mauro On September - 22 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

From CAN:

FoxNews.com reports that a donor who made a “significant investment” in the Ground Zero mosque and Islamic center project named Hisham Elzanaty donated to an organization in 1999 later shut down in 2001 for financing Hamas. There is no conclusive evidence that Elzanaty was aware that the front, the Holy Land Foundation, was supporting the terrorist group.

Imam Rauf Supports the Destruction of Israel

Posted by Ryan Mauro On September - 13 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Newly discovered statements by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the Ground Zero mosque project, show he supports the destruction of Israel. His supporters may hold him up as a moderate, but he has spoken out in favor of a “one-state solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and he sees peace agreements with Israel as a means to that end.

And I personally — my own personal analysis tells me that a one-state solution is a more coherent one than a two-state solution,” Imam Rauf told an audience in July 2005. The phrase “one-state solution” is often used by Islamic extremists to advocate the destruction of Israel, especially by those parading as moderates. It is said with the knowledge that any “one-state solution” would result in the Jews being outnumbered in their own land, replacing Israel with a Muslim state called Palestine.

A letter to the editor written by Imam Rauf on November 27, 1977 puts to rest any doubt that Rauf could have been misinterpreted. In it, he wrote that he supports Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel, but only because it would ultimately bring victory over Israel. He reminds Muslims that Muhammad received similar resistance to his own peace treaty with their enemies but “peace turned out to be a most effective weapon against the unbeliever.”

The “Ground Zero” Mosque?

Posted by Richard Radcliffe On September - 12 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

This New York Post article by Amir Taheri goes a long way towards explaining the purpose of the building that Imam Rauf intends to build.

Should there be a mosque near Ground Zero? In fact, what is proposed is not a mosque — nor even an “Islamic cultural center.” In Islam, every structure linked to the faith and its rituals has a precise function and character. A mosque is a one-story gallery built around an atrium with a mihrab (a niche pointing to Mecca) and one, or in the case of Shiites two, minarets. Other Islamic structures, such as harams, zawiyyahs, husseinyiahs and takiyahs, also obey strict architectural rules. Yet the building used for spreading the faith is known as Dar al-Tabligh, or House of Proselytizing. This 13-story multifunctional structure couldn’t be any of the above.

In fact, the proposed structure is known in Islamic history as a rabat — literally a connector. The first rabat appeared at the time of the Prophet. The Prophet imposed his rule on parts of Arabia through a series of ghazvas, or razzias (the origin of the English word “raid”). The ghazva was designed to terrorize the infidels, convince them that their civilization was doomed and force them to submit to Islamic rule. Those who participated in the ghazva were known as the ghazis, or raiders.

After each ghazva, the Prophet ordered the creation of a rabat — or a point of contact at the heart of the infidel territory raided. The rabat consisted of an area for prayer, a section for the raiders to eat and rest and facilities to train and prepare for future razzias. Later Muslim rulers used the tactic of ghazva to conquer territory in the Persian and Byzantine empires. After each raid, they built a rabat to prepare for the next razzia.

It is no coincidence that Islamists routinely use the term ghazva to describe the 9/11 attacks against New York and Washington. The terrorists who carried out the attack are referred to as ghazis or shahids (martyrs). (Edited for space.)
