My latest FrontPage Magazine article can be read here. Here’s an excerpt:

A highly disturbing phenomenon is rising in our public school system today with hardly a peep of protest from parents and from our society at large: students are being force-fed a curious and bizarre narrative that presents Islam in a glowing — and historically mangled — light, while Western civilization and the Judeo-Christian tradition are demonized and smeared. The latest example can be found in New York’s statewide high school Regents exam where students will find points deducted from their grade if they don’t obediently regurgitate the Party-Line given to them.

Some of the test’s questions are based on specific readings from A World History: A Cultural Approach by Daniel Roselle, including this troublesome lesson: “Wherever they went, the Moslems brought with them their love of art, beauty and learning. From about the eighth to the eleventh century, their culture was superior in many ways to that of western [sic] Christendom.” Elsewhere, students learn from Roselle how, under Christian rule, “idols, temples and other material evidences of paganism [were] destroyed.” The text also marvels at how, after being conquered by Muslims, the Spanish city of Cordoba’s “streets were solidly paved,” unlike in Paris, and lamps were set up. At the same time, the author makes pains to point out, “there was not a single public lamp in London!”

From CAN:

The Investigative Project on Terrorism is raising new questions about the financial practices of the people behind the Ground Zero Islamic center and mosque project. The IPT has discovered that an organization founded by the project’s leader, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, received non-profit status by claiming it held services attended by 500 people at a building but it cannot accommodate such a number.

The counter-terrorism organization says that Imam Rauf founded the American Sufi Muslim Association in 1998 and that it held services at a 17-floor apartment building in New York City. However, the IPT says, there is no single room where large services can be held.

Daisy Khan, who was listed in the ASMA’s application for tax-exempt status as the organization’s director and is married to Imam Rauf, denies that any irregularities exist.

“I have received your enquiry, and notice that it includes inaccurate and outdated information. Unfortunately, as I’m sure you can appreciate, we are extremely busy right now and will not be able to provide you with answers by the time of your deadline,” she told the IPT.

The IPT also recently reported that the Cordoba Initiative has not declared approximately $100,000 in donations from two other organizations. The organization said some of the funds were sent to Cordoba via a group called the American Society for Muslim Advancement which is not required to disclose its donors.

MyFoxNY.com also reports that associates of the project’s developer, Sharif el-Gamal, are questioning how he raised the millions of dollars to buy real estate including the former Burlington Coat Factory that will be replaced by the Islamic center.

The Christian Action Network says it will soon release a documentary about the controversy titled, “Sacrificed Survivors: The Untold Story of the Ground Zero Mosque.” CAN says the film will include extensive interviews and undercover footage showing that the site for the future Islamic center is already being used as a mosque.

These from our friends in Iran.

Sep. 7, 2010. Mohammad-Ali Jafari, the head of the Revolutionary Guards Corps said, “Protests after the elections and the sedition that tried to undermine the structures of the Islamic Republic, was much more dangerous that the 8 year war (with Iraq)”. “The eight year war helped us to export the revolution but last years seditions damaged the prestige of the revolution to a very high extent and in such a situation, those who lived through the war should not stay silent in the face of animosity, perversions and spiteful measures”, he added. “Today the Islamic system is in direct war in various political, cultural, economical and social grounds with the global arrogance (the US) and the part that those who lived through the epic times (war) and holy defense play, is very important in this stage”. Trying to revive the spirits of his forces, Jafari said, “Some think that the time for being a revolutionary is over. This is a big mistake because according to the commands of the Imam (Khomeini), we are still at the beginning of the path”.

Sept. 7, 2010. Last week Franko Fratini, the foreign ministry, Jiani Almanu, Rome mayor and some other Italian officials and personalities spoke against stoning and execution in Iran. At the same time, in front of Iran’s office in Rome, held protests against stoning sentence and they installed a picture of Sakineh Mohammadi on the Italian prime ministry building. All these activities caused so much anger for supreme leader of Iran. Keyhan newspaper attacked the perloskoni the Italian prime minister and called him the head of Italian mafia. Keyhan by pointing at Mrs. Sarkozi’s Italian Nationality insulted her and said Karla Bruni’s unpleasant past proves why she is supporting an Iranian woman who is under execution. Actually she is also worthy to die.
French Foreign ministry spokesman called this accusation unacceptable and sent a message though diplomatic ways to Iran’s leaders

Sept. 7, 2010. Habibi, the head of Motalefeh gang, by saying that every social problems ends to an act against the Mullah’s dictatorship, pointed out that when people for any small matter, make the government responsible, it is very dangerous. Habibi’s claims which were published in Ilna’s news agency (state run news paper), said: any thing even the rise of onion’s price comes on the regime which is very dangerous.

Sep. 7, 2010. The Quds state-run daily admitted to the Iranian regime’s inflammatory role in Palestine in its editorial titled ‘Palestine is Non-negotiable’ and attacked Mahmoud Abbas and wrote: “Even if Mahmoud Abbas calls himself the representative of the Palestinians in the so-called peace talks, he knows very well that he does not have the support of Palestinians and any decision by him might lead to severe reaction from Palestinians in the occupied lands and other countries”.

Sep. 7, 2010. Iranian state run TV: the Foreign Ministry spokesman said in answer to a question from a reporter on the recent IAEA report that the “negative point of these kinds of reports is that they are easily affected by political issues and pressures of some countries”. “The agency must preserve its technical dignity in the framework of the NPT and looking into political issues and political pressures is outside of its legal duties”, he stressed. The spokesman said that ‘we think that non-technical matters will not have much credibility” and stressed that ‘the cooperation of the Islamic Republic with the IAEA will continue under very good circumstances”. “All nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic are under 24 hour monitoring of agency cameras”. These claims are made while Agence France Press and the IAEA have reported several times that the Iranian regime does not allow inspections. It is very clear that Iran prevents the inspection duties of the IAEA to monitor its nuclear activities.

Sep. 6, 2010. ILNA state-run news agency, Sep. 6: The representative of the Velayate Faqih (Khamenie) and the Friday prayer leader in Kashan said, “It is a shame for our country when some of our sports teams who go to other countries for the Olympics become asylum seekers”. Namazi expressed regret over the fact that some Iranian athletes seek asylum in foreign countries.
“Sports have to be seriously looked at from the perspective of religious laws and sportsmanship and soccer, in which they intentionally break each others legs, is unlawful and in the Islamic Republic these two things which are religious laws and sportsmanship should be included in it”, he added.

Sep. 7, 2010. While officials have still not announced the exact numbers of arrests of last years protests, a Revolutionary Guard official said that 10,000 people were arrested in the past year.
Ali Fazli, the commander of the Central Rahian Nour Base said yesterday in Khuzestan that the number of protesters – or as he called them ‘seditionists’ – were 10,000 and claimed that 5,000 of them have returned to the bosom of Islam and the revolution. But the other 5,000 have still not returned. This is the first time that an official put the number of detainees at 10,000. Before this the highest official number was announced by the spokesman of the judiciary, Alireza Jamshidi, who put the number at 4,000.

Sep. 7, 2010. According to reports, because of the lack of fuel in Iran, bus drivers of private companies and the Vahed Bus Company have to wait in long lines to get fuel. Vahed Company fuel stations have stopped giving gas to buses of the Vahed Company and private companies. Bus drivers who are fasting in the month of Ramadan have to wait in these long lines for hours and sometime even after sunset which is when Muslim’s break their fast. There were also a number of clashes because of the mistreatment of these drivers by officials. Currently the atmosphere is tense in these gas stations and these drivers have stopped working to wait in these lines. They are met with the insults and harassment of traffic police threatening them not to park outside gas stations else they will be fined but the bus drivers cannot afford to lose their place in line.

Sep. 7, 2010. The value of the exports to Iran was 24.2 billion dollars in the first five months of the Persian year (starting from March 24) which shows that compared to the same time last year the value of exports has increased by 22.21 percent. Some experts believe that this increase shows Iran’s fear of international sanctions. The Iranian regime fears that the sanctions will reach a point where it cannot have access to the global markets and is filling its stock from before. The Iranian regime has other problems as well with European banks. Almost all the branches of the Saderat Bank have closed down in Europe and Iran is worried that because it cannot pay back its debts to its European exporters, it will not be able to buy from them. Another reason for the raise in exports is the anti-national policies of Ahmadinejad. From the first day he came to power, he increased exports which has led to the destruction of internal companies and productions. Some experts also believe that Iran fears a face off and likely military confrontations and therefore is getting ready for an economy suitable for war like conditions.

In addition, Chosun Ilbo is reporting that South Korea is imposing sanctions on Iran.

The government is suspending business at the Seoul branch of Iran’s Bank Mellat under a package of U.S.-led sanctions that caused officials some headaches given Korea’s substantial business interests in the Islamic Republic. The package consists of 16 measures that include a ban on unauthorized financial transactions and new investment in Iran’s oil and gas sector. The government on Wednesday said it will suspend the Bank Mellat branch for two months for violating foreign exchange transactions regulations. The decision is considered a compromise after a U.S. request to freeze the bank’s assets and close it down. Financial transactions with altogether 102 Iranian organizations and 24 individuals will need approval from the Bank of Korea. This adds to 40 organizations and one individual already blacklisted by the UN Security Council. The list was compiled after studying the U.S. Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act, and similar sanctions programs by the EU and Japan.

Tehran – Speech of one of employees: we were waiting for 6% excess salary in the current month, but we saw a reduction in the insurance and there was no news from excess in the salary.

Tehran – from 500 manufacturers in Tehran, only 100 are active and the rest are out of work. The reason is massive amount of imports from China, government thinks if the amount of goods are a lot in the market, it will effect in pressure caused by inflation and he wants stop inflation by this plan but the price of this plan is paid by internal manufacturers and the workers of these manufacturers are appealing for some excess work hours but they are suffering unemployment.

Tehran- there are two main problems, one is lack of liquidity and another one is junk goods of China, one is string with the price of 4 dollars per kilo and another one is plastic string which is 1.5 dollars per kilo, but we don’t know why china goods are being priced more than 1.5 dollars. When I investigated, industries said that they are being imported legally and priced 2.6 dollars but the raw materials are being provided from Malaysia but weaved in here. China also should get the raw material from Malaysia and pay the worker and then import it to Iran, so it is unknown how the prices are being set.

Sep. 7, 2010. Tehran- Milk two years ago was 200 cent but now is 400 cent. Bread was 5 cent and now is 200 cent. Meat is 20$ and peach is 4 $ per kilo.

Tehran- According to one stationary shop in Narmak- The sovereignty people of people have been reduced. It is worse than last year. For example copy paper was 4.4$ per pack, but now is 5.4$ . Every thing had risen up in price and nothing is make in Iran but from China.

Tehran – According to received reports from Tehran, price of bus tickets of Azadi sq. to Tehran pars has risen up from 0.2$ to 0.8$ which has caused a great protest from Tehran residents. In majority of bus stations clashes between the ticket controllers and people are continuous. Reports say from Azadi station, Enghelab, Imam Hossein, ValiAsr and Tehran Pars clashed are very strong so that the officers are forced to refuse getting tickets.

Tehran- one selling kiosk in zone 15 say: People can not even by newspaper or magazines and they only see the leaves of them and pass away and they are not able to buy. They have said also not to sell cigarettes and candies; this means unemployed tree families, because their incomes come from this way. He added that we also are going to be added to the number of unemployed because we can not afford these high prices.

Boushehr- Delay in paying the teachers’ salaries for several months have made a lot of problems for them.

Qazvin- Due to high salaries of schools low income families and especially the workers because of not affording to pay the salary, are being forced to pull out their children from schools. A work says: I have about 18 years work experience but I have not received my salary for over 16 months and I demand about 5000$ from the company. With this situation I can not even get bread for my family then how can I pay the salary to enroll my children in school? I need 170$ to enroll my youngest child but I don’t know how to provide it while for getting bread and cheese; I have to borrow from others.

These from our friends in Iran. The underwhelming turnout for Qods Day.

Sept. 6, 2010. Tehran: On Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 there were ridiculous scenes of a so-called show of power near the Friday Prayers by Bassij forces. It was supposedly a karate and Kong foo show on the street and all the people passing by made fun of the Bassiji forces. The two attached videos show this ridiculous show of Bassijis which was played out as Ahmadinejad was giving a speech. In one of the scenes of this ‘play’ the Bassijis set something on fire on the street which led to protests from young people and even to anti-government slogans. The Bassij force quickly put out the fire to prevent further protests and gatherings.

Sept. 6, 2010. Report from Isfahan on Friday Sept. 3, 2010 – According to a report given by a witness in Isfahan, the crowds in Isfahan for ‘Quds Day’ were very small. Only about 150 people were walking in each line. The state-run TV was saying that millions were out on the street but I only saw that barely 200 to 300 people were out in Isfahan. They had brought maybe 100 people from other towns because of the small turnout in this city.

The sanctions are for real and they are hurting.

Sept. 6, 2010. The Iranian regime’s foreign ministry spokesman admitted to the painful impacts of international sanctions on the clerical regime, saying, “So, if we retreat, there would be nothing left for us.” According to the state-run Fars news agency on Sunday, Ramin Mehmanparast, whose remarks were broadcast on state-run TV, said, “We do not welcome any sanctions or [punitive] resolutions. We don’t want to move towards resolutions. But, at the same time, we are not prepared to back away from our rights under pressure.” The comments ran counter to what the mullahs’ President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, had previously stated on a number of occasions to the effect that the regime “embraces sanctions.” He had added that sanctions actually benefit the Iranian regime.
Mehmanparast also unveiled the creation of “the special headquarters at the Foreign Ministry to confront sanctions.” He referred to some of the impacts, saying, “For example, there are chemical products that are used for peaceful purposes 96% of the time. They could only have a 4% chance of being used for military purposes. But, as soon as a merchant starts to be active in this field, he is told that you are importing these products for military purposes in Iran. Even cement and iron rods count as being sensitive products. They say that these products may be used for building military fortifications.”

Sept. 7, 2010. Qom: according to a worker in the Qom Derakhshan Factory, last month 20 workers were laid off work because the low purchases of fabric. Workers in this factory have 3 month contracts and the head of the factory can fire them whenever the factory goes into a critical state. None of the workers have job security and can be fired any day.

Tehran: about 400 workers of the Kian Tire Factory who had not received their wages for four months did not receive their wages in the month of Mordad (July 23 to august 22) and these workers are still in an undetermined state. There is a tense atmosphere among the workers in this factory. In this regard, the factory Protection Department and the head of the factory have told workers that they should not talk about the condition of this factory with anyone and if someone wants to know about the worker’s situation, they should come to us.

Sept. 7, 2010. Tehran: the head of a Western Tehran Taxi agency said that 300 liters of fuel only last for 10 to 15 days when you consider car maintenance and the agency commission and 400 liters of fuel, nothing is left for the driver. And this is in conditions where taxi drivers even in northern Tehran are from the impoverished south of Tehran who all live in rented homes and have loans and have to pay the expenses of their children and they cannot make a living under these circumstances.

Sept. 7, 2010. Amol: It has been a month now that cylinder gas has become scarce in the town of Amol. This shortage has led to serious problems for the people in this town.

Tehran: A taxi driver in a Taxi agency in West Tehran has said that one of their problems is that an agency that has 300 to 400 calls a day only has two cars. Drivers practically make no money and have to use their money for their car maintenance which needs a lot of care as a result of overuse. This taxi driver also said that because of high prices, inflation and the price of his children’s education including text books and other facilities, they have problem sending their children to school.

Happy Ramadan

Sept. 7, 2010. Tehran: Security forces are showing their true identity in the month of Ramadan by dealing harshly with those who eat in public. Even drivers in cars are not spared for smoking. Security forces stop cars with passengers who eat in public and after checking their documents send their cases to judicial sources.

Sept. 7, 2010. Tehran: according to reports, after months of being kept in an undetermined state in Evin Prison, the trial for political prisoner Omid-Ali Mehrnia, a 70 year old retired teacher and PMOI supporter whose children live in Ashraf City (in Iraq where the members of PMOI live) was held on Tuesday August 31. He was sentenced to two years of prison on charges of propagating against the government and acting against national security. The judge did not allow his family inside the court and only a few minutes before the court session ended and after the sentence was announced, his relatives were allowed inside.

There is no compulsion in religion

Sep. 7, 2010. The Islamic Revolutionary Court in Mashhad has threatened the families of detained Christians and has told them that if the jailed Christians do not turn back to Islam, they will be charged with apostasy. According to reports, three of these converted Christians identified as Reza (Stephan), his wife Maria and Ehsan Behrouz were arrested on July 8, 2010 on charges of converting to Christianity. Branch 901 of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad asked the families of these three Christians on August 29 to participate in their trial. According to reports from a source close to this case, in the above mentioned session, court and security officials told these families that despite 50 days of attempts by guidance agents to convert these prisoners back to Islam, these people have still not given a positive answer and are not willing to leave their Christian beliefs…Judicial and security officials in Mashhad have also said that if their families are not able to force them back to Islam, they will charge them with apostasy and they will be tried on these charges. The official meaning of apostasy in Iran is execution.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the head of the Cordoba Initiative behind the Ground Zero Islamic center project, has written letters that contradict his claims of being a moderate, the Wall Street Journal reports.

J.R. Dougherty has discovered that Imam Rauf wrote a letter on November 27, 1977 about the peace talks between Israel and Egypt. He expresses his support for Egypt’s recognition of the state of Israel, but only because he felt it would help Muslims ultimately conquer the country.

Rauf tells Muslims that Mohammed was criticized for entering into a peace treaty but “peace turned out to be a most effective weapon against the unbeliever.”

“Muhammad used that period to consolidate his ranks and re-arm, eventually leading to his conquest of Mecca. Imam Rauf seems to be saying that Muslims should understand Sadat’s olive branch in the same way, as a short-term respite leading to ultimate conquest,” Dougherty writes.

Later on in the letter, Imam Rauf clearly states that Israel’s existence is not sustainable and “In a true peace, Israel will, in our lifetimes, become one more Arab country, with a Jewish minority.”

An audiotape recently surfaced of Rauf saying that he supported a “one state solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has also refused to condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization and wrote a letter in June 2009 in support of the Iranian government and the 1979 revolution of its founder, Ayatollah Khomeini.

“Calling for a one-state solution is a not-so-subtle way of calling for the destruction of Israel,” said Ryan Mauro, the Christian Action Network’s National Security Advisor. “The Jews would be outnumbered by the Palestinians and Israel would be gone.”

The Christian Action Network is releasing a documentary about Imam Rauf’s project, “Sacrificed Survivors: The Untold Story of the Ground Zero Mosque.” The organization expects it to premiere in New York City in October.

The Dutch police have released two Yemeni men taken off a United Airlines flight that landed in Amsterdam from Chicago, saying there was no evidence connecting them to terrorism. However, the circumstances of their arrest clearly point to a “dry run” or deliberate provocation of security, with important questions remaining unanswered.

The two men, Ahmed Mohammed Nasser al-Soofi and Hezam al-Murisi, werearrested on their way to Yemen, where a very active branch of Al-Qaeda exists led by the American imam Anwar al-Awlaki. The affiliate is known for its success in recruiting Americans, including up to three dozen prison converts. Al-Awlaki has connections to numerous plots, including the Fort Hood shooting and theChristmas Day underwear bomb plot.

Al-Soofi first received scrutiny when he was flying to Chicago from Birmingham.Security found that he had $7,000 in cash on him, as well as a cell phone taped to a Pepto-Bismol bottle, three cell phones taped together, watches taped together, a box cutter and three large knives in his checked baggage. Airportsecurity did not detect explosives and allowed al-Soofi and his materials to make it to Chicago.

These from our friends in Iran.

5 September 2010. The very low turn out on Quds Day and the media boycott of this event has led regime officials to examine the reasons behind this failure on Quds Day. One example of this evaluation was published by the state-run Farda Website in which Ismail Ahmadi Moqadam, the head of the State Security Forces, said that carrying out security maneuvers before Quds Day was ‘bad taste’. But he claimed that the maneuver was for ‘robbers and other like them’. Farda wrote: Ismail Ahmad Moqadam implicitly criticized the Prevention Maneuver on Thursday (September 2). This maneuver was to counter armed robbers and other criminals. The head of the State Security Forces said that carrying out this police maneuver a day before Quds Day was ‘bad taste’. Ahmadi Moqadam said that the carrying out the Crime Prevention Maneuver one day before Quds might ‘have been because of the bad taste of our colleagues on choosing the day of the maneuver”. On Thursday, the streets of Tehran were filled with police forces one day before Quds Day. The head of the Tehran Security forces immediately reacted to rumors regarding the heavy police presence and said that it was part of the ‘Prevention’ plan.

September 4, 2010. German Radio broad casted the false claims of Manuchehr Mottaki the foreign minister of Islamic Republic in an interview with weekly Eshpigel: Nobody has been executed in Iran because of political reasons. This June, the country’s supreme bureau, confirmed the execution of Mohammad Ali Haji Aqaii and Jafar Kazemi for cooperation with PMOI. They both were arrested after election. Nasim Naghavi attorney of Mr. Jafar Kazemi said to Dutch Veleh that his client was arrested in September 2009, he was in prison for his political activities for 10 years and he was set free at 1991. Mrs. Ghanavi says that his client’s sentence is due to be implemented and we are expecting his execution. According to Mrs. Ghanavi, he is sentenced to fight against God through relation with PMOI group and this is the reason for his execution and when we complained to section 28 of the court, they referred the file to section 36 of Tehran’s court which unfortunately the vote was confirmed and now this vote is definite and is going to be implemented imminently. Farah Vazehan and Mohammad Ali Sarami are two other captives of Ashura Day. They both are sentenced to death, Farah Vazehan mother of two is convicted of taking pictures and films at this day. Her court was in August and in the court she was sentenced to death because of having relation with PMOI.

September 4, 2010. International campaign against stoning and execution sentence of Sakineh Mohammadi has caused intolerance reactions from the Mullah’s regime. Yesterday a large poster of Sakineh Mohammadi was installed in front of Prime ministry palace and the municipality building in Rome. Italian Prime ministry declared this picture will remain until Sakineh is set free. Mullahs called Italian act as intervention. One official media called, Ati news wrote: installation of a main Iranian criminal in central city of Italy. A large picture of an Iranian woman, who killed her husband in cooperation with another man, was installed in Kolona square with western agents of Italy. A report by an international reporter of Ati news says that a large picture of a woman who is culprit of adultery and murder is installed near Italian prime ministry.

Franko Fratini the foreign Minister and Mar Karfania the equal chances minister are organizers of this interventional act. These two persons are also famous in Europian predicate and political circles for their support of Zionist regime. This photo is installed on the building belonging to Equal Chances ministry. Fratini and Karfania by saying some false claims against the Islamic republic said that this picture will stay there as long as she is safely freed. Andrea Berdochi one of Florance officials said he had chosen this unusual place on purpose because this place is being visited by Italian and foreign tourists. Western authorities after their fail in showing nuclear activities of our country, they now want to condemn Islamic republic in violation of human rights. As a reminder, the attorney of Sakineh Mohammadi and her children said that her claims where all have been taken from her under torture and pressures and they have no value. Sakineh Mohammadi’s son in an interview with foreign Medias has said that the so called mullah’s court had destroyed all the documents of her files that has pointed out the contradictions which was in her file.

On 31th of August a Topoloph (Tupolov) airplane belonging to KishAir airway agency, when it was leaving Mashhad to Tehran, in the airport was stricken by its tire fire and was stopped in the Airport. A day ago on 30th of August, flight no. 088 of Mahan airplane agency, which was supposed to take the passengers in 2315 o’ clock from Shiraz to Tehran, but after 8 hours delay, the flight was canceled and the passengers were transferred to Tehran by another flight. 4 days before this event, on 26th of August in less than a day, 3 air accidents occurred. According to reports in 4 years ago, more than 480 people have lost their lives in air accidents in Iran. The aircraft experts say that due to mismanagement and corruption, this regime is preventing maintenance and checking airplanes. Los Angles Times newspaper wrote: Iran’s Aircraft with 14 deadly military and nonmilitary accidents, since the year 2000, has a history of deadly technical fails, 7 of these 14 accidents has been during Ahmadinejad’s presidency.

September 4, 2010. A group of Qazvin’s Naznakh Spinning Factory staged a gathering outside the plant, protesting over 6 months of delayed and unpaid wages. “I haven’t paid my mortgage for 4 months, and no one is listening to us,” a protesting worker said. “My children haven’t even seen meat for 8 months.” Furthermore, 180 workers of Qazvin’s Alborz Porcelain Factory gathered on Tuesday, demanding 12 months of delayed and unpaid wages and protesting an order to close down the factory. Workers of Shiraz’s Long Distance Telecommunications are continuing their protests over 17 months of unpaid wages.

September 4, 2010. A cleric close to the Iranian regime says poverty in Iran has spun out of control. “On the other hand,” he added, “we see the enormous money provided to some people whose status is well known.” Mullah Nasser Makarem Shirazi also referred to the hefty financial contracts involving actors and athletes. He added, “Moreover, a substantial amount of money is spent out of the government budget on individuals who are described as Iranians living abroad.” There are villages which are deprived of the most basic medical services and residents have to jump into the river to bathe, Shirazi said. His comments were apparently targeting a state-organized “conference of Iranians abroad,” which took place last month in Tehran for the second consecutive year and was run by a close aide to the mullahs’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
People who attended the gathering had their expenses paid in full by the Ahmadinejad government during their three day visit to Iran. Some observers say the so-called conference was organized by Tehran to dispel its image as an isolated regime and to spur foreign investment. But, even members of Ahmadinejad’s own faction began to lash out at the decision and even the participants. Some said the attendees did not come to invest but instead were motivated by an all expense paid trip to the country.

5 September 2010. The spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry admitted to the negative results of international sanctions for the mullah’s dictatorship and said that “if we retreat, we will have nothing left”. According to the state-run Fars News Agency on September 5, Mehman Parast said, “We do not welcome any sanctions or resolutions, we do not want to go towards a resolution but we are not willing to retreat from our rights because of the pressures… nothing will be left for us”. Notably, Ahmadinejad had constantly said that ‘we welcome sanctions and sanctions are in our interest according to a program that we had set’. The Foreign Ministry spokesman also said that a “Special Staff will be created to counter sanctions in the Foreign Ministry” and said that “we do not welcome sanctions and they are not in the interest of the Iranian people”.

Special Staff counter sanctions in Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He referred to the problems after sanctions and said, “For example, there are chemical goods that have a 96 percent non-military use and four percent is only used for military purposes and immediately when a tradesman becomes active on these grounds, they claim that you intend to use these goods for military purposes in Iran. They even claim that cement and iron rods are sensitive goods and that they are used in military fortified sanctuaries or strongholds”.

September 5, 2010. Hossein Sasani, the Secretary General of the Iranian regime’s Industry Confederation admitted to the effects of the sanctions and said, “Resolution 1929 in the Security Council has targeted and limited bank transactions in addition to limitations for military purchases, activities of economical businesses and ocean transportations”.

September 5, 2010. The Iranian regime’s parliamentary speaker has admitted that the regime is facing “difficult threats” in comments that echoed growing fears in the regime over recent domestic and regional developments. Ali Larijani made the unprecedented remarks during a speech in Qom, according to the state-run Mehr news agency on Friday. “A quick glimpse at the country’s situation shows that we are facing difficult threats and overcoming them requires a period of resistance. We have to avoid making costly statements.” “Currently, we are being threatened economically, culturally, politically and regionally. The most important of them are economic threats and the West is trying to impose various sanctions to cause drain the system from within and diminish the political influence of the establishment among people.”

Larijani said in thinly veiled remarks that clearly expressed anxiety, “The enemies are targeting the Islamic Republic’s capabilities in the region. A triangle is currently being formed that consist of the three sides of pressuring Iran, pressuring the Lebanese resistance forces and creating a mild atmosphere for the Palestinians to pursue peace talks.” Referring to expanding conflicts within the clerical regime, Larijani said talk of issues that might encourage discord should be set aside. “Domestically, the enemies are trying to incite divisions among our internal loyal forces in order to achieve their ends.”

September 5, 2010. While the government of the mullahs’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is grappling with a $140 billion debt, various parts of the economy and social services are taking huge blows. According to a Aftab state-run news agency, 750,000 farmers have lost their jobs during the past five years alone. Aftab said that the latest reports and statistics by the regime show that bank credits to farmers are severely restricted and despite rising inflation, the government buys agricultural products like rice and wheat at cheap prices citing dubious pretexts.
At the same time, other agricultural products, particularly fruits, are being imported in an unbridled fashion, which leads to more unemployment in the industry. Separately, 120,000 teachers have also lost their jobs, according to Arman newspaper. This week, a number of teachers protested to the decision by gathering in front of the regime’s Majlis (Parliament).

Meanwhile, the regime’s prisons are unprecedentedly overcrowded. Recently, the head of the regime’s Prisons Organization said there are over 205,000 people behind bars in Iran, warning that “if the trend were to continue, a serious human catastrophe will be in the works.” According to the regime’s Prisons Organization statistics, while the average rate of prisoners in the world is 132 for every 100,000 people, “in Iran, there are 348 inmates for every 100,000 people.” The Ahmadinejad government has also made a significant calculation mistake in declaring the banking system’s capacity to issue credits. According to the state-run Donyay-e Eqtesad on August 30, although the banks could issue 23 billion dollars in credit, the government declared the amount as 70-80 billion dollars, making a mistake of over 50 billion dollars.

September 5, 2010. Alyomolsabe newspaper published in Egypt, with a title of “A Judiciary plea, Accused Albaradeii of receiving 7 million Dollars from Iran” exposed one of Mullah’s regime bargains with ex secretary general of International Agency of Nuclear Power. This newpaper wrote: Dr. Yaser Najib Abdolma’boud, in a plea to Judiciary, accused Mohammad Albaradeii ex secretary general of International Agency of Nuclear Power for receiving 7 million dollars from Iranian regime. Abdolma’boud in a plea of 15421 said that the leadership of Iran declared his financial support of Albaradeii through and Arab business man living in Europe and this business man gave a check for 7 million dollars for his election propagandas. Plea emphasizes that the meeting between this arab business man who is close to Albaradeii and the Iranian official took place in a hotel in Romanian Capital. This business man went to Romania in order to finish this deal, and this was after 2 weeks secret communications between both sides which Iranian official asked the business man to inform Albaradiee of their complete support.

September 5, 2010. Despite supreme leader advise to reduce crisis, Ahmadinejad wrote a letter to the head of parliament asking for restoration of his fifth resolution. The government media called Mehr, wrote: Government representative, to show their protest, they didn’t take part in yesterday’s reconciliation commission. Today, the government had asked for restoration of this issue. During sending this letter to parliament, a delegation consists of parliament representatives led by Mohammad Hassan Abutorabi fard and some other members of the commission had a discussion with the president. According to Mehr media, the representatives including Abutorabi tried to solve the problem, but there is no result from such discussion.

An Australian imam, Feiz Mohammed, has called for the execution of Dutch politician Geert Wilders by beheading,Yahoo! News reports. Wilders is currently being prosecuted in the Netherlands on alleged hate speech charges for criticizing Islam, the Koran and its founder in a documentary titled Fitna. He has been the target of numerous death threats ever since.

Feiz Mohammed is known for his extremist preaching. The British media reported in 2007 that Muslim children were selling DVDs in Birmingham made by Mohammed.

“We want to have children and offer them as soldiers defending Islam… Teach them this: there is nothing more beloved to me than wanting to die as a mujahid. Put in their soft, tender hearts the zeal of jihad and a love of martyrdom,” Mohammed said on one DVD.

He has also apologized for describing Jews as “pigs that will be killed at the end of the world” in 2002 and told The Australianthat he was not talking about violent jihad in the film and that he opposes all violence including suicide bombings.

The Christian Action Network released a documentary this year about Wilders named Islam Rising: Geert Wilders’ Warning to the West. The film includes Wilders’ own documentary, Fitna, and tells his story. It also features a speech Wilders gave when he came to the United States about the impending fall of Europe to Islamization and the signs that the trends are coming to America.

According to the translation, a National Party candidate for Egypt’s presidency alleges that El-Baradei received $7 million from the government of Iran:

According to the Egyptian newspapder, a meeting between the Arab businessmen who is said to be close to El Baradei and who has only identified by the initials A.

My latest FPM article can be read here.

The Israelis and the Palestinian Authority have renewed peace negotiations, with Defense Minister Ehud Barak going so far as to state that the division of Jerusalem is on the table. Hamas has predictably reacted by shooting four Israeli civilians to death in the West Bank, followed by a second shooting that injured two. The attacks underscored that there can never be anything near peace until Hamas is dismantled and Palestinian public opinion comes to accept the reality of Israel’s existence.

Hamas openly declared responsibility for the attack. The Palestinian Authority subsequently arrested over 150 members of Hamas in the West Bank and President Mahmoud Abbas said that Hamas was trying to sabotage the peace process and the attack “can’t be regarded as an act of resistance.” However, Abbas was careful not to appear like he’s siding with Israel, saying he “condemns all acts that target Palestinian and Israeli civilians.”

The location of the two attacks is telling. Hamas utilized its operatives in the West Bank, which is governed by the Palestinian Authority. This was done to remind Fatah and the P.A. as a whole of their strength and force their rivals into a conundrum: Retaliate against Hamas, looking pro-Israel and potentially igniting an internal conflict they may not win or do nothing, probably causing the talks to collapse and Israeli retaliation in the West Bank.

Debka is reporting that Hezballah forces are attacking US forces in Iraq at the behest of Iran and Syria.

Debkafile’s military sources report increased Hizballah involvement in actions to terrorize, subvert and destabilize Iraq. A US intelligence source told Debkafile’s Iraq and counter-terror sources Monday Sept. 6: “Hizballah is striking US targets in Iraq as sub-contractor for Iran and Syria.” According to the Sunday Times of Sept. 5, Iranian “firms” in Kabul are shelling out $1,000 to Taliban for every American soldier they kill in Afghanistan. These developments make nonsense of the dire predictions heard from some American military experts that an Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities would unleash a wave of anti-US terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is happening anyway without Israel lifting a finger against Iran or its aggressive allies.
…
Debkafile’s military sources report that Hizballah’s increased involvement in actions to terrorize, subvert and destabilize Iraq on behalf of Syria and Iran is their first practical step for reviving the Eastern Front which threatened Israel in the days of Saddam Hussein. In its contemporary re incarnation, the Eastern Front would be orchestrated from Tehran and link up with the armed-to-the-teeth Northern Front composed of Iran’s cohorts, Hizballah, Syria and the Palestinian rejectionists.

Please read the entire article for more important information.

Analysis. However, Iraq does not have a common border with Israel. Therefore, any attack from an “Eastern Front” is an attack from Jordanian territory. So far there have been no public reports that I have seen detailing any problems in Jordan with “rejectionist” forces. Jordan has a problem with fundamentalists along its border with Saudi Arabia. So far this has been contained. Since 2000, there have only been two major events in Jordan that I remember. The first was the 2000 sarin gas attack supposedly sponsored by El Queda with the assistance of Syria. There was also a terrorist attack on a wedding in one of the major Amman hotels several years back. Somewhere in the near future we may see attempts to assassinate King Abdullah II and destabilize Jordan directed from Damascus. This we cannot afford.

As mentioned in the article, Iran wants control of the Shiite shrines in an-Najaf and Karbala … especially Karbala. Iran does not want a sunni in control of the government. But an Arab shiite in control in Baghdad might not be any better. Arabs don’t like Persians. Iran wants to control the southern Iraqi oil fields for the increased leverage on the World’s oil supply and for the Iraqi refining capacity.

I believe I heard mentioned on “The Dark Secret Place” radio show yesterday that the Houthi rebels are active again. This would fall in line with the attacks yesterday on a joint Iraqi-American base near Baghdad. The Iraqis repelled the attack with fire support from the American forces. If Debka is correct, expect to see more of these. The Iranians must portray our withdrawal from Iraq as a defeat by the mujahadeen and not a voluntary withdrawal. Politically and religiously they cannot let the message go out that we actually weren’t there to conquer Iraq for “crusader forces”.

Expect the instability in the Middle East to increase after Friday Prayers this Friday. Ramadan ends that same day and the Eid al Fitr (Greater Eid) is that night. There just might be some interesting “celebrations” planned.

First, God bless you Ryan for figuring out the mess that is the Middle East. God bless you for starting this blog and allowing me to occasionally stick a few comments up here. In this instance, you totally underestimate the Hell that will rain down on Israel not only from Hezbollah but from Syria and Iran.

“The Syrian-Iranian backed Hizbullah poses a very serious threat to Israel…Hizbullah today now has four times as many rockets as it had during the 2006 Lebanon war. These rockets are longer-range. Every city in Israel is within range right now, including Eilat,” he said.

That is what ambassador Oren said. What he did not mention, that we have, are the preparations for war that Syria, Hezbollah and Iran are taking at this very moment. You do not go to all the expense of setting up joint and combined commands unless you are preparing to use them in the short term. In the recent past, Syria and Hezbollah have set up joint commands. That means a lot of fiber optic line has been laid, a lot of copper wire has been laid, a lot of concrete has been poured over a lot of steel and a lot of munitions have been built and moved into ready positions. We should all take note of the explosion earlier today of the Hezbollah weapon’s storage area under a three story building in Lebanon south of the Litani River. This is in direct contravention to Security Council Resolution 1701. Why should we care if the UN doesn’t!

The simple fact is that the controlling forces in Iran want a war. They believe it is their manifest destiny to rule the World. They believe that the return of the Hidden Imam from the Occultation requires major chaos. What better major chaos than a Middle East wide war? Why has not the Hidden Imam chosen to reappear before? Because none of the previous major wars involved the particular portions of the Middle East that this one will. Rommel only got as far east as El Alamein. All of the other Middle East conflicts have gone against the muslims. None of them had the possibility to be fought in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley and involve the shiite holy sites at Karbala and an-Najaf. This bloodletting will be as much or more a sunni-shiite conflict as a war to destroy Israel.

This will be a war on at least two fronts. The Western Front will comprise the area directly contiguous to Israel. The Eastern Front will be the Persian Gulf and the Shatt al-Arab. Whether or not this will spill over into Afghanistan is total conjecture. But the prizes for the shiites are an-Najaf and the Imam Ali mosque, Karbala and the Imam Hussein mosque, Medina and Mecca. You only haver to read “Shorty’s” diatribes at the UN to understand that these are shiite sermons containing an invitation to islam. Having extended the invitation to islam, the Iranians are now religiously free to initiate jihad against all of those who have rejected the call.

How soon? That is the big question. as I said in an earlier post, Ramadan ends on the tenth of September. The Israel-Palestine peace talks resume on the 14th. While this may lead to sporadic terrorist attacks, I do not believe that it will lead to full scale war. I don’t believe Iran is ready yet. Right now I believe that Iran is focused on making a mess of the Iraqi attempts to form a government that they don’t like. The Iranians are deathly afraid of a sunni running Iraq. They will do their best to keep Allawi from becoming Prime Minister. If they cannot forestall Allawi becoming Prime Minister, they may go.

A lot also depends on the internal situation in Iran. We document here on a regular basis the facts of the Iranian economy. Life is not good in Iran right now. There is a whole lot of hate and discontent directed at the absolute mess that “Shorty” has made of the economy. The sanctions are not making life any easier. The mullahocracy is ruling in a lot of cases by execution. So far, the revolutionaries have been unable to get significant support from groups that would allow them to take on the Bassiji and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. As much as we support them here, they cannot be depended upon to take the regime down. There simply are not enough monafeghin and they don’t have enough firepower. Until the regular Iranian military decides to get involved on the side of throwing the mullahs out, there is no real revolution in Iran.

What would a defining event be? Some kind of a peace agreement between the Palestinian Authority and Israel? Probably. The effects of the sanctions becoming unbearable? Maybe. A fight between the Yazdi faction and the Rafsanjani faction for control of the Council of Experts? Possibly. Stopping an Iranian ship attempting to break the Gaza blockade? Probably. Pick yours. And that is the problem. We here in the West have a very weak idea of what constitutes the decision making process in Tehran. We also have a very weak idea of who their allies might be and what they might do. What exactly might the PRC do if it thought that its major oil supplier might be destroyed? How much of the oil pipelines to bypass the Straits of Hormuz are complete and what is their capacity? Could the tankers get insurance for such a trip? Can the US Navy keep the Straits open or will they be overwhelmed by the Rigid Raiders and the new speedboats? How much of the oil infrastructure will remain after the combat is over? How soon can it be brought back to full production? The answers to many of these questions are simply unknowable.

What is knowable is this. Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia will take a beating. Will their combined forces be able to forestall a shiite takeover of the holy sites? Probably. Will King Abdullah II of Jordan behead Bashar Assad? Hopefully if Bashar doesn’t flee to Great Britain. Will there be a State of Israel in existence after this bloodletting? That is unknowable. The array of conventional firepower deployed against Israel right now is daunting. It may well require the use of nuclear weapons on Lebanon to insure the survival of Israel. The last time that we did this, we missed World War Three by not a lot. I was on alert as a B-52 navigator then. I don’t want to be that close again.
