We briefed 10 SC legislators and about dozens of political activists on “Holy Islamville” and Radical Islam on 4/24 (Video)

Posted by Ryan Mauro On April - 30 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

On April 24, South Carolinian legislators and political activists saw The Third Jihad and were briefed by RadicalIslam.org’s national security analyst, Ryan Mauro. The audience was shocked to learn about the existence of “Holy Islamville” practically in their backyard in York County, South Carolina. “Holy Islamville” is a compound about 36 acres large that is run by Islamic extremists (click here for more information).

After the presentation, legislators stood up and vowed to fight for a bill based on American Laws for American Courts during the next legislative session, which would prevent state courts from enforcing rulings based on foreign law, including Islamic Sharia law, that violate the civil liberties of American citizens. The website, Shariah in American Courts, lists 50 Appellate Court cases where Muslim-Americans had their cases decided according to Sharia law.

Ten members of South Carolina’s General Assembly attended, including House Majority Leader Kenny Bingham, Rep. Alan Clemmons, Rep. Chris Murphy, Rep. Rick Quinn, Rep. Anne Thayer, Rep. Nelson Hardwick, Rep. Bill Chumley and State Senators Larry Grooms, Ronnie Cromer and Jake Knotts.

Rep. Clemmons tweeted the truth about “Holy Islamville” to his followers during the event, and Rep. Quinn also tweeted that he was watching the film.

“Thank you to Ryan Mauro, the Clarion Fund and the Myrtle Beach Tea Party for partnering with us to raise awareness of the threat of radical Islam—not just abroad, but right here in South Carolina! Your insight, together with the screening of The Third Jihad, left no doubt of the need for vigilance against an insidious enemy to America’s political, legal and social systems,” said Rep. Clemmons.

“Your presentation imprinted a clear sense of urgency upon me and the other legislators in attendance of the need for moving forward legislation like the American Laws for American Courts bill. Again, on behalf of South Carolina, thank you!” he said.

Federal Judge Enforces Sharia-Compliance in Ohio Prisons

Posted by Matthew Avitabile On April - 28 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

Note: This article originally appeared at Pundit Press by Aurelius. Reposted with permission.

In 2011, death row inmate Abdul Awkal sued an Ohio prison because he was receiving non-halal food while in prison. As a consequence, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction banned all pork products in prison.

This year, prisoner James Rivers filed a lawsuit arguing that pork should not be outright banned. He reasoned that, should Muslims not want to eat pork, they had the right to, but that it was discriminatory to ban pork for everyone. Additionally, the prison did offer meals without pork products in them before the ban.

To reinforce Rivers’s lawsuit, prison authorities argued that the change to all-halal food could potentially “bankrupt the system.” Despite all of this, a federal judge has thrown out Rivers’s case, refusing to even hear it in court.

The judge stated that forcing non-Muslims to adhere to a Muslim diet is not the establishment of a religion because everyone eats the same food. He did not comment on the fact that, before the lawsuit by Awkal, all prisoners ate the same food in the first place.

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction: Now Serving only Halal food

Former Navy Chaplain Dr. Gordon Klingenschmitt, in response to the ruling, stated:

“This is another example of the Islamicization [sic] of America. It’s establishing Islam as the state religion of the prison system,” Klingenschmitt contends. “The judge’s reasoning is this: He said as long as all of the prisoners are forced to eat the same food, then there’s no discrimination taking place. In other words, if he enforces Muslim law equally, then there’s no establishment of religion. I think that’s wrong, and I pray this is overturned on the appeal.”

There is no word as to whether another lawsuit will be launched.

The North Korean KN-08s Is a Fake… Uh Oh

Posted by Timothy Knight On April - 28 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS
Earlier this week the North Korean government introduced the KN-08s missiles at the tail end of a parade celebrating the 100th birthday of Kim Il Sung to demonstrate their military prowess.

Don’t be scared… It’s a

Well, apparently, that missile [pictured above] is a mock-up or an fake according to analysts. The experts discovered several issues with the missile: it has two fuel sources; it doesn’t fit the missile launcher correctly; the metal skin is too thin and all of the missiles were designed differently.

Or in other words: they are still lacking when it comes to missile technology, and we should do whatever we can to prevent them from accidentally succeeding in the near future and posing a real threat to the United States with their limited nuclear weaponry.

But at least it’s good to know the North Koreans haven’t changed a bit – build missiles that weren’t intended to fly in order to scare people about possible missile launches, while encouraging the 5% within the country that actually still believe the government about their strength abroad. Hope and change.

Boycott Best Buy Petition Nearing 8,000 Signatures!

Posted by Ryan Mauro On April - 28 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

From my FrontPage Magazine article on the boycott:

On April 19, Marc J. Fink at Islamist Watch broke the story that Best Buy was a “Platinum Sponsor” for a fundraising banquet for the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). After Best Buy defended its donation, the Clarion Fund’sRadicalIslam.org started a petitionon April 24 for those committing to a boycott of the company until it rescinds its support for CAIR. Within one day, nearly 5,000 people had signed it. You can sign it by clicking here.

On January 23, the Facebook page of CAIR-MN announced that Best Buy would be a “Platinum Sponsor” of its fifth annual banquet. CAIR was labeled by the federal government as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, a charity that was shut down for fundraising for the terrorist group Hamas, whose charter calls for the destruction of Israel.

CAIR grew out of the Islamic Association of Palestine, another group that was shut down for being a Hamas front. The Muslim Brotherhood’s secret Palestine Committee in the U.S., set up to support Hamas, listed CAIR as one of its “working organizations” in one of its documents in 1994.

In a 2007 federal court filing, it is stated that, “From its founding by Muslim Brotherhood leaders, CAIR conspired with other affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood to support terrorists” and “the conspirators agreed to use deception to conceal from the American public their connections to terrorists.” District Judge Jorge Solis ruled that the government provided “ample evidence” tying CAIR to Hamas to justify its designation as an “unindicted co-conspirator.”

This information can easily be found in a quick Internet search, but Best Buy wasn’t simply negligent. After the story broke, Best Buy could have said it acted hastily and would change course. Instead, the company boasted that the donation proves its good will and tolerance.

“Best Buy’s customers and employees around the world represent a variety of faiths and denominations. We respect that diversity, and choose to engage with our customers, employees and communities in ways that reflect their traditions and maintain good relationships for Best Buy,” a statement on Facebook reads.

Nearly 5,000 people signed the pledge within the first 24 hours to boycott Best Buy until it rescinds its support for CAIR. Add your name to the list by clicking here. [The list is now at over 7,500 signatures!]

Accuracy in Media takes on the New York Times’ coverage of our film and the NYPD

Posted by Ryan Mauro On April - 27 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

Accuracy in Media has published a great report correcting the New York Times’ reporting on our film, The Third Jihad and the nature of groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Islamic Circle of North America.

Here’s an excerpt:

Oddly enough, the strongest opposition has been from groups such as CAIR, a prime example of the organizations that are actually exposed in the film. Ryan Mauro points out that the ones trying to silence the film and who oppose its use as training material in law enforcement are the same ones who stand to lose the most from the films portrayal of radical Islam.

“What amazes me is how The New York Times and other outlets seem to treat CAIR as an objective source,” Mauro said. “We expose how CAIR and its allies grew out of the Muslim Brotherhood and the federal government has provided evidence tying them to Hamas—of course they are going to try to discredit us.”

South Carolina’s “Holy Islamville”

Posted by Ryan Mauro On April - 24 - 2012 1 COMMENT

A radical Pakistani cleric named Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani and his followers testify to the holiness of a shrine where miracles allegedly prove his supernatural powers. The shrine isn’t in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia or anywhere in the Islamic world. It’s in York County, South Carolina, inside a commune about 36 acres large called “Holy Islamville,” located on a street named Islamville Way.

It was founded in 1982 by a group called Muslims of the Americas (MOA), led by the aforementioned Gilani. The Department of Homeland Security says it is linked to Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a Pakistani militant group also led by Glani. The State Department describes ul-Fuqra as “an Islamic sect that seeks to purify Islam through violence.”

Fuqra was behind many assassinations and bombings between 1979 and the early 1990s. Its biggest plot aimed to kill 4,500 Indians in Toronto during the Festival of Lights in 1991. Its destructive capacity first caught the FBI’s attention in 1989 because of a raid on a storage locker in Colorado Springs. They discovered weapons and plans for various attacks, including a scheme to murder Imam Rashad Khalifa in Arizona in 1990. They succeeded, killing him exactly as the seized papers said they would. Two Fuqra members were allegedly involved in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and dramatic plots against New York City.

In October 1992, Fuqra’s 101-acre compound at Buena Vista, Colorado was shut down. The authorities discovered it was a full-blown terrorist training camp. The members financed their efforts through a web of fake companies and various criminal activities. A poem by Gilani was found that reads: “Come join my troops and army/Says our Sheikh Gilani/Prepare to sacrifice your head/A true believer is never dead/Say ‘Victory is in the Air’/The kafir’s blood will not be spared.” That’s the sheikh who the residents of Islamville and the other MOA compounds view as a representative of Allah that meets with Jesus in heaven, heals diseases, transforms into animals, instantly transports and leaves his body at will.

The MOA says it has 22 “villages” around the country, with its Islamberg headquarters in Hancock, New York being the most notorious. In a secret recruitment tape made by Gilani, he states the purpose of these villages: “We are establishing training camps.” He tells viewers that they “are most welcome to join one of the most advanced training courses in Islamic military warfare” by contacting the group’s offices in Pakistan or several locations in the U.S., including South Carolina. That’s Islamville.

I’ll be speaking in Columbia, SC tomorrow to legislators, activists

The South Carolina Tea Party Coalition is sponsoring a screening of The Third Jihad primarily for elected officials in Columbia on April 24 to rally support for a bill based on the American Laws for American Courts legislation. RadicalIslam.org’s National Security Analyst, Ryan Mauro, will speak at the event.

“It is imperative that state legislators and American citizens understand the goals of Jihadist Islam and how those goals are intended to impact U.S. legal and judicial systems. Thank you for Ryan Mauro, the Clarion Fund and the Myrtle Beach Tea Party for working together to help the South Carolina legislature better understand these issues,” said Rep. Alan Clemmons (R-S.C.), who is encouraging his colleagues to attend the event.

Mauro will be discussing the Islamist threat in South Carolina specifically, including the establishment of a place called “Holy Islamville” in York County that is run by an extremist group called Muslims of the Americas.

Mauro, right, is also the founder of WorldThreats.com and a frequent national security analyst for Fox News Channel.

The event is scheduled to go from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Columbia Conference Center at 169 Laurelhurst Avenue. Those interested in attending must request tickets from the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition by emailing Joe Dugan at [email protected].

The Need for an “Inner Jihad’ in America

Posted by Ryan Mauro On April - 23 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

America needs an “inner jihad” in order to cope with the jihad being waged against us. That’s the thought-provoking message of The Control Factor by Bill Siegel, a new book that analyzes the psychological impulses driving the West’s misreading and denials of the jihadist threat.

Siegel argues that there’s a psychological process, which he calls the “Control Factor,” that copes with anxiety and insecurity from a lack of control. This is born into us and is not a reflection of one’s nationality, personal strength or intelligence. Other circumstances fostering insecurity, such as America’s economic condition, make the Control Factor more powerful.

This is a unique take on the problem. The downplaying of the Islamist threat is often condescendingly chalked up to a willful denial of reality by those who are weak or unintelligent. The Control Factor adds depth by identifying this psychological process so readers can see how it has been in motion since 9/11.

Insecurity is a major driving force behind human action and controlling behavior. It is, at least to a degree, why there are micromanaging bosses, strict parents and obsessive relationships. It is part of why there are so many Islamic preachers demanding punishment for those who criticize their religion. Insecurity and the resulting drive to control is something that is all around us and foreign policy formulation is no exception.

Muslims Against Islamists: Interview with Syrian Opposition Activist Kamal Labwani

Posted by Ryan Mauro On April - 19 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

Kamal Al-Labwani is an influential Syrian democratic activist who believes in separation of mosque and state. He is the founder of the Syrian Liberal Democratic Union and currently resides in Jordan.

He was first imprisoned from September 2001 to September 2004 by the dictatorship of Bashar Assad because of his advocacy for democracy. He was again arrested in 2005 and was released on November 15, 2011 along with 1,180 others. In February, he resigned from the Syrian National Council, the opposition umbrella body based in Turkey, accusing it of being undemocratic and controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood.

“There has been no Islamist democratic country in history, and we do not want to try to be the first,” Labwani told Reuters.

“This region will not stabilize without a reformation in Islamic culture that creates an Islam compatible with liberal values and modernism and breaks the totalitarian dogmatic Islamist thinking,” he said.

The following is RadicalIslam.org Senior Fellow Ryan Mauro’s interview with Labwani:

Ryan Mauro: Thank you for the interview. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Kamal Labwani:  I am a Sunni Muslim who believes in God. but I refuse to identify my political identity as a Muslim. We have to be clear that the matter of religion is different than the matter of politics. We need a civil democratic state [in Syria] that respects religious freedom.

The West really doesn’t understand the deep desire [among Syrians] to reform, not only politics, but also culture and religion, to cut with seven centuries of deterioration, closed minds and lack of freedom,  due to either occupation or dictatorship. This is the will of the Arab Sunni majority. By using the close-minded Islamist groups to lead the revolution, we will have to choose between democracy and Islam. Why?! Why can’t we try to make Islam more compatible with freedom and civilization? We need open minds, not the Muslim Brotherhood.

Security loophole almost allows school shooter in Alabama to escape back to Pakistan

Posted by Ryan Mauro On April - 18 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

WHNT News 19 in Alabama interviewed me about its discovery of a frightening loophole that almost allowed a school shooter to escape back to his home country of Pakistan. Kudos to Nick Banaszak for breaking this important story!

Here’s an excerpt (there’s video at the link):

The Madison Police Department and Madison County District Attorney’s Office both said they did not know about the foreign passport loophole. Judge Lynn Sherrod approved Memon’s $75,000 bond back in 2010 after seizing his U.S. passport, and declined to comment on the latest developments. One national security analyst who spoke with WHNT News 19 said the loophole was a glaring security flaw that could be manipulated by terrorists.

“I think that this is so shocking, that authorities around the country would have to do something to close this loophole,” said Ryan Mauro, a senior analyst for RadicalIslam.org who called the loophole a serious national security threat. ”It’s simply shocking to think that someone who was involved in a school shooting could potentially almost flee the country. I think it’s very likely that this story has exposed a nationwide problem.”

About 85 current/retired firefighters and police officers in Pomona, NY learn about jihad in America

Posted by Ryan Mauro On April - 18 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

RadicalIslam.org’s National Security Analyst Ryan Mauro, left, spoke at the 30th annual Ken Merriman Fire-Police Seminar April 14 in Pomona, NY, where he addressed about 85 current and retired police officers and firefighters. His session included a screening of the Clarion Fund’s second film, The Third Jihad.

“The session opened many eyes and minds to the necessity of assuring effective intelligence collection to protect our nation. The majority of attendees had been personally affected by 9/11. Many had been deployed to Ground Zero,” said Robert Ruston, chairman of the Fire-Police Committee of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association.

The Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association awarded Mauro, the Clarion Fund and RadicalIslam.org with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Mauro focused on the controversy surrounding NYPD Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. Islamist-tied groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Islamic Society of North America are demanding the resignation of Kelly for appearing in The Third Jihad. The groups are also outraged at the NYPD’s use of the film as an instructional tool.

“It’s amazing to me that the media acts surprised when these groups fight against a film that exposes these groups,” Mauro explained to the audience.
