Venezuela As a Narco-State
This article from Trendsupdate suggests that Venezuela is becoming a Narco-State.
Substantially, the report that will be published in the end of this month, describes the birth of a “narco-state” in Venezuela.
In agreement with the investigation, that country became the main center of cocaine distribution produced in Colombia and in the largest port of embarkment of the product with destiny, especially, to the markets of the USA and of Spain.
Analysis. The title of the article says that Venezuela is becoming a narco-state. I would contend that it already is as well as a lot of other things. Venezuela has been supporting the FARC just about since Chavez became the caudillo. This is above and beyond Venezuela’s support for Iran and Russia.
Generally speaking defenses are planned from the inside out. While there are legitimate reasons for having gone into Afghanistan and a lot fewer for going into Iraq (and a lot of reasons for not doing it that are just as valid if not more valid), we continue to neglect our borders and do so at our great and continuing peril.
Drugs are the fuel for the Mexican cartels and groups such as Mara Salvatrucha. If they have no product to sell they will eventually wither away. Yet we refuse to control our borders. We refuse to get serious about the Mexican gangs. We refuse to get serious about Danny Ortega’s Nicaragua which is probably supporting the drug traffic as much as Venezuela. Add to that the amount of mischief that he is creating in the rest of Central America.
We must be seriously concerned about islamofascist terrorism and the jihadi movement. But we must be as seriously concerned about what is happening to the south of us. Venezuela is a lot closer than Iran.
