Iran Update, Student’s Day, 4 Nov 09, Part 1
This from a reporter in Iran.
Today, I can tell you that this is the most unbelievable scene that we have been witnessing since the Qods Day.
Though every where is flooded with suppressive agents and they really beat people and attack them viciously but there is a strong unity and strong will amongst the people to resist.
It seems that everybody knows that to gain our freedom we have to pay the price for it or better said we will gain our freedom and democracy only if we are ready to pay the price for it.
These events have been reported to World Threats.
URGENT: The mother of Neda Aqa Soltan (killed by regime agents in the unrest after the elections) was arrested in Hafte-Tir Square.
Tehran 9:30 am
Tehran University students have started forming lines to hold a protest gathering in the university and the lines have reached the eastern entrances of the university. Cars are honking in protest in the Vali Asr intersection to Vali Asr Square. Security forces pound on the cars and stop the cars from moving. Regime forces have ordered that all shops near Enqelab Square have to be shut. This is while shop keepers had gone to their shops to go about their regular business but security forces prevented them from opening their stores and closed open shops.
Shiraz 9:30 to 10:30 am
Thousands have gathered in the Shah Cheraq region and are chanting death to dictator. Security forces have clashed with the protesters. They wanted to arrest a woman but a young protester prevented her arrest and saved her. There are also large crowds in Elm Square. Also in the Setad area a large number of people have gathered and are chanting anti-regime slogans.
Tehran 9:45 am
Forces from the Revolutionary Guards Forces Base ‘Sarallah’ have taken oven Ferdousi Square towards Qarni Street which goes in the direction of the former US embassy.
Tehran- 10 am
Thousands of people are moving towards embassy in Ttaleghani Street and are chanting death to dictator. While exiting Tehran University students chanted “death to dictator” and “while Ahmadinejad is in power every day will be protest”. Clashes are seen around the university. SSF is clashing with the students and is telling them that their gathering is illegal. A three thousand to four thousand strong crowd gathered in front of the university’s mosque. They wanted to exit from Qods door but the SSF prevented them to do so. The crowd chanted death to dictator and pushed to exit the main door. Tehran University has been surrounded by a large number of security forces. Metros have been closed. Large crowds have started to gather in Hafte-Tir Square and adjacent streets. The cries of death to dictator can be heard everywhere. Security forces attacked protesters with tear gas in Hafte-Tir Square. The protesters are constantly moving about and chant death to dictator and death to Russia (as opposed to death the US advocated by the regime).
Tehran 10:30 am
A severe clash between SSF and the crowd has started. People are chanting death to dictator. In Haft-e-tir all routes are closed. The Metro station is closed.
Students of Tehran University are continuing their protest chanting “death to dictator” and “while Ahmadinejad is in office there will be protests everyday”. There are clashes here and there around the university. Those gathered outside the university say that they should help the students of Tehran and Sharif Universities. Universities are surrounded by suppressive agents and students cannot get out. About 3 thousand to 4 thousand Tehran University students are imprisoned in this university by security forces and they are chanting: ‘death to dictator’, ‘Traitor Mahmoud (Ahmadinejad) you have brought Iran in ruins’, ‘Students will die but will never bow down’, ‘State Security Forces shame shame’
Mashhad 10:30 am
The march has started in Khosravi Street.
Tehran 10:40 am
An eye witness: I’m over a bridge near Haft-e-Tir Sq. All the northern streets leading t Haft-e-Tir and Karimkhan are flooded with protesters. Thousands have gathered in each street but the suppressive forces are too many and don’t let the crowd to join together. There are using every kind of equipment to prevent people from joining together.
Tehran 10:40 am
Students of the Industrial Sharif Universtiy and Tehran University are not allowed to leave the university grounds. But the cries of death to dictator are very loud. Scattered clashes started between students and Bassijis.

It is a terrible shame that American media (moreso the entire western media) does not attempt to report on the plight of the Iranian people and the oppression inflicted upon them by a facist regime. Even more troubling is that the governments of the west do nothing to assist or encourage those oppressed, even when the oppressed are so brave in the face of pain, suffering and torture. The obvious question is WHY?
