LET Leader Openly Preaching in Pakistan
So much for the “crackdown” on the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group following the Mumbai attacks in November 2008. The group’s founder, Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, is openly preaching to thousands of people in Lahore, Pakistan. And what sort of things was Saeed telling his followers?
“Our rulers are the slave of America and have sold their conscience for a few dollars,” continued the diminutive former university teacher, his long beard dyed red with henna.
As the article explains, the ISI has worked closely with LET, and Saeed also founded a group called Jamat-ud-Dawa, which continues to operate as a charity because a Pakistani court ruled last week that JUD wasn’t a terrorist group. The case came after the U.N. passed a resolution declaring JUD as terrorist, and Pakistan took some limited action in response. The LET is technically outlawed, but through a little name-switching and cosmetic surgery, all is well for the terrorist group.
