Three Iran Stories to Watch
- Mehdi Karroubi says the current Iranian government “will not last” its entire four year term. You heard that right: A key opposition leader is predicting the fall of the regime by 2014. Unfortunately, 2014 may not be soon enough. The chances are high that Iran has the bomb by then.
- A crowd of Iranians fought security forces and rescued two men about to be publicly hanged for robbery in Kerman Province. The two were later recaptured and the government says those that intervened to protect them will also be punished. Another interesting fact in the report: Iran has the second highest number of executions annually, only beaten by China. And China has over one billion people, a tad bit more than the 70 million in Iran.
- Relatives of Osama Bin Laden have learned that one of his wives, 6 of his children and 11 of his grandchildren are currently living in a “high-security compound outside Tehran” where the regime is not allowing them to contact the outside world. That puts to rest the idea that Al-Qaeda’s presence in Iran is outside the regime’s control. I’ve previously written two articles (one for FrontPage, one for Pajamas Media) about information indicating that Osama himself has spent a lengthy amount of time in Iran since 9/11.
