Merry Terror Christmas
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that a Nigerian attempted to blow up a Delta Airlines plane flying to Detroit from Amsterdam.
ABC News reported on its web site that the man is Nigerian and claimed he was directed by Al Qaeda to explode a small device in flight over U.S. soil.
The man was apparently already on the government’s no-fly list of suspected terrorists, ABC News said a senior intelligence official told them.

Analysis. There is no holiday from terrorism. “Eternal Vigilance is the price of freedom.” Holland has a large Muslim population mostly from the former Dutch East Indies now Indonesia. They also have a severe militant problem as demonstrated by the murder of Theo Van Gogh and the death threats to Ayan Hirsi Ali and Geert Wilders both at one time members of the Dutch Parliament. Wilders is still a member of Parliament. Hirsi Ali has since moved from the Netherlands.
The passengers did an excellent job of responding to the threat. Everybody who flies is now aware that they are a first responder to any act of this type and they must guarantee their own survival and not wait for official response. The same is true at home. You are your own first line of defense. Prepare accordingly.

Defensive warfare stinks!
We can’t blame every attempt on the U.S. strategic withdrawal, but we can see a trend. The incident rate of these and other more effective attacks are on the rise. One big argument for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan was that we would not have to fight it over here. I guess we are going to find out how true or false this was.
