Posted by Richard Radcliffe On February - 11 - 2010

All times are Tehran local time. All locations are in Tehran unless otherwise noted.

1150: The state ceremony is ending. Clashes have started around Engelab Square. Mossadeq and Rezayi Square. A whole family was arrested when the security forces stopped a family car and arrested their child.

At about 1220 in Azadi Square a number of people burned flags of the Islamic Republic in the middle of Ahmadinejad’s speech. They then started to chant anti-government slogans.

At 1245 in Haft-e-Tir Square people walking on the sidewalks are threatened with plastic bullets to keep them moving. A crowd of 10,000 people is moving towards Evin Prison. They are chanting “death to the dictator” and “death to the principle of Supreme Leadership”. A protester was killed in Shahrak-e Qarb. There were clashes between protesters and security forces in Ferdosi Square. Protester were forced to the ground and severely beaten.

1330: An eyewitness reported that protesters in Shahrak-e Qarb protesters burned a motorcycle and ripped up pictures of Khamenei.

In Isfahan at approximately 1300 protesters have gathered on the 33 Bridge. The security forces arrested a 12 year old child. Shots are being fired into the air to scare the protesters. It’s not working.

Cell phone systems in Azadi Square are dead. Foreign reporters who had come to cover the government’s ceremony in Tehran were bussed directly to Azadi Square so they would not be able to cover the protests in neighboring streets. These reporters were warned before hand that they were only allowed to cover Ahmadinejad’s speech.
