Women’s Day in Kurdistan and Other Places

The ceremony for honoring Women Day was held on 3pm in Sepidar Park starting with a crowd most of them women.
While they were distributing leaflets Plainclothes raided at the crowd and arrested 10 including the leader and her mother. They ordered the crowd to disperse but the crowd marched towards Eghbal Sq. and chanted “free Shirin” (a female Kurd political prisoner condemned to death by the clerical dictatorship), and “political prisoners must be freed”. They were raided again and one of the participants who was tapping the scene was arrested.
When they wanted to take away the person responsible for the gathering she wanted to read her statement but they didn’t let her too and took her away.
On Sunday March 7 too the people of Sanandaj commemorated Women Day by gathering at 2.30 pm in Shahrak Bath of the city.
At the beginning of this ceremony the participants held one minute of silence to hail those fallen for freedom during the Uprising and also Neda the symbol of freedom and equality of Iran’s new revolution.
Great number of placards defying the clerical dictatorship and hailing Women’s day as well as Neda’s pictures could be seen. At the end of the ceremony the statement and resolution of the gathering was read.On March 17 a group of activists of Laborers Movement and Women Movement gathered at 3 pm in a place close to Mahabad to celebrate the Women Day.
They started the ceremony by singing an anthem and then with one minute of silence they saluted those fallen for freedom.
A short history of this day and poems and articles in regard with the day was read and at the end the resolution of the gathering was introduced.Students Committee reported from in front of the Evin Prison that to commemorate Women’s Day 600 people gathered in front of Evin Prison including Mothers of the Uprising to support and demand the freedom of female political prisoners.
Until 8 pm the mullahs didn’t intend to free any one but at 2030 some prisoners were freed.
Families of the political prisoners present said that in spite to the fact that they had paid heavy bails for the freedom of their children, they haven’t still been freed.
To prevent people from taping the scene suppressive forces had shut down the projectors in front of the prison.
About 15 SSF vans were present at the premises. At 2045 a water-cannon vehicle parked near Evin’s door ready for any potential unrest.
As the time passed the number of crowd grew to 800 and mothers fearlessly revealed regime’s acts for the crowd.
The Feast of Fire heats up.
“Ali Zadsar regime’s Friday Imam in Hamedan’s Asadabad fearful from the nationwide uprising on March 16 said: “it seems that dissidents are trying to use this day as a level of pressure on the System”.
In his interview with Fars news agency affiliated with RGC he added: “I think this years Feast of Fire Day is having a political intention and (they are training people through) satellite and internet to provoke riot and destroy public properties”.
Zadsar claimed: “this feast has gone astray in the last decade and has led to destroying public properties and causing fires”. ”
Tehran, March 7, 2010- In Tehranpars region it is about a week that people have started using feast explosives in spite all the state threats.
A resident of the region said: people, especially youths confront all these limitations and arrests and they will not retreat. As it is obvious this year, sound of the explosions are heard much sooner than any other year in Rashid region, Third Circle of Tehranpars and Narmank region’s Hafthose.
Tehran, March 6, 2010- A lorry full of feast explosives was confiscated in Tehran in Qazvin Square at 7 in the morning and the driver was forced at the point of a gun to drive his lorry to the police station there. The lorry was escorted by some patrol units.
This hour is from the busiest hours of this square and the suppressive forces draw gun at the driver in front of the eyes of a great number of people.
