More Wood on the Fire

This from our friends in Iran.

In fear of the uprising of Iranians in Feast of Fire Day the clerical dictatorship desperately tries to prevent youths from participating. One of the actions taken is the directive issued for schools:
Summoning parents and putting pressure on them to prevent their children from leaving the school on the day.
Threatening parents that if their children are arrested they will not be freed till the end of New Year’s holidays (April 3).
Bassij elements in schools are to write articles in regard with the dangers of the feast. 150 of them are to receive prize for their articles.
In addition to that regime’s official TV & Radio is to vastly warn families and young generation the days before the feast. A 90 minutes duration film with high expense has been produced about the dangers of playing with fire-works and a 30 minutes duration film is produced about how this feast is accepted for the ruling mullahs.
But people of Iran pay no attention to these threats and will rise with slogans of “death to Khameni” and “death to the principle of Supreme Leadership”. In this way they will cry their wrath and fury against the entirety of religious fascism ruling Iran.

Tehran University will be closed for the week of the Feast of Fire March 16.

More than 600 students of Babol’s industrial Noshirvani Univrsity held a ceremony chanting political prisoners must be freed and saw of two students of this university condemned to terms in prison.
Iman Sedighi and Mohsen Barzegar must introduce themselves to the prison within two days. At the beginning of the ceremony which was vastly welcomed by the students they condemned all the issued decrees for the students of this university and other students nationwide during the uprising.
The students then marched towards the universities entrance. Singing the unity song of the students and chanting “political prisoners must be freed” they gathered there for minutes to farewell these two students.
During the ceremony especial publication for Women’s Day and students’ statement was distributed.

Women are not doing well under the mullahocracy.

Students Committee reported from the Evin Prison that women political prisoners are in critical physical condition at this prison.
Ignorance of prisons treatment center in regard with sick prisoners in women’s ward has caused many problems for the prisoners.
Mahdieh Golroo, student activist, is suffering from stomach and intestine problems since her presence in ward 209 for three months from her detention. One month from the time she was transferred to public ward from 209 her problem intensified because of the quality of the food there.
Zahra Jabari is suffering from progressed Rheumatism and other bone problems as well as severe heart problems and she needs the supervision of a specialist. But after being deprived of her medication for five months her physical condition has turned worse everyday.

ILNA state-run news agency – March 9, 2010 - A member of the Board of Directors of the Hospital and Treatment Centers’ Union believes that the lowering of women’s working hours will cause employees not to give key management jobs to women and the ratification of this law is an excuse to eliminate women from the social scene.
“In a traditional society like Iran, the lowering of women’s working hours can seriously damage this stratum because this will definitely lead to the lowering of their wages and may hurt their professions”, Zeinab Taheri said.
“Currently, many of the women in our country are the breadwinners of their families and if this law is passed, employees will not welcome hiring women or will give them lower wages, therefore it can be said that the lowering of women’s working hours can lead to a decrease in social calamities”.
