Iraqi Elections: A Defeat for Iran

Click here for my latest article on FrontPage Magazine. The results from the Iraqi election are still coming in, and it shows a clear defeat for Iran. The latest results show that al-Maliki is ahead, but the gap between him and Allawi has gotten significantly less and the race is extremely tight between the two. This is a huge development. Regardless of the outcome, it shows that unabashedly secular and cross-sectarian forces like al-Iraqiya are now a decisive force in Iraq and the results are a rebuttal to the pro-Iran religious Shiite bloc.
