Iran’s Expansionism Admitted
Iran has officially admitted to its policies of forcible expansionism of its interests. For years it has been an ardent backer of Hezbollah and militias in Iraq. Despite previous denials, this from a general of the Basij:
“Not only are our armed forces self-sufficient, liberation armies of the region get part of their weapons from us,” Hamedani said, according to the report on Borna’s Web site late Sunday.
While the article does not go into too much detail, this must be mostly meant about militias like Hezbollah and the Mahdi Army. However, what may be inferred from this is Iranian support for Shi’ite militias among the Gulf States, which has been worried about for years. In case of a war with Iran, these militias may overthrow pro-American oil-producing states such as the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, this announcement comes after Iran has declared advancement in its ballistic missile capabilities. Persia is rising again and perhaps only a democratic Iraq could stop it.
