Iranian Cleric Calls for “Greater Iran”

Posted by Ryan Mauro On May - 15 - 2010

I hope you are wearing diapers before you read this.

Ayatollah Mohammed Bagher Kharrazi, the leader of the Hezbollah “political party” in Iran, has called for creating a “Greater Iran” that would stretch from Palestine to Afghanistan. This isn’t crazy talk. Iran is trying to use Shiite minorities and terrorist proxies to assert its rule throughout this region. The regime sees itself as the leader of the Islamic world and the engine that will bring their version of Shiite Islam to reign over the Sunnis and non-Muslims.

It gets worse. Ayatollah Kharrazi seems to believe in the radical sect of radical Shiite Islam that believes they can cause the Hidden 12th Imam to return and bring about the Last Days. This sect was so radical that Khomeini himself banned it, but it’s gained steam over the past decade and influences Ahmadinejad’s thinking.

He also said its formation would be a prelude to the reappearance of the Mahdi, a revered ninth-century saint known as the Hidden Imam, whom Muslims believe will reappear before judgment day to end tyranny and promote justice in the world.

“The Islamic United States will be an introduction to the formation of the global village of the oppressed and that will be a prelude to the single global rule of the Mahdi,” the newspaper quoted him as saying.

He specifically said this new Islamic state will destroy Israel, the Saudi Wahhabists, and the Iraqi Baath Party. Again, he believes this must happen BEFORE the Mahdi returns. In other words, to bring about prophecy, they must accomplish these goals. Scared yet?
