The Daily NK is reporting that Canada is reducing its diplomatic connections with the DPRK.
Following its active participation in the joint investigation into the Cheonan sinking, Canada has moved to reduce its diplomatic connections with North Korea in protest at the attack and put in place restrictions on trade and investment with the country.
In a statement, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he was putting a stop to high level visits to Canada by North Korean officials, saying, “Canada is now committed to a coordinated international response, including through the UN Security Council, as a result of this act.”
“Canada has condemned the reckless North Korean regime for this egregious violation of international law and its blatant disregard of its international obligations.”
“The government of Canada will take steps to impose enhanced restrictions on trade, investment and other bilateral relations with North Korea,” he explained.
Analysis. Another nail in the coffin.
