U.S. Now Supporting And Undercutting the Iranian People

Posted by Ryan Mauro On June - 12 - 2010

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Treasury Department is now helping Iranian dissidents get communications equipment….while the State Department keeps its awful reputation by cutting off aid to pro-democracy groups in the U.S. documenting Iran’s human rights abuses and dedicated to training activists. Seems “stability” is still everything to State.

The Treasury Department is allowing a California company to sell software in Iran to defeat censorship efforts by encrypting websites so they can’t be hacked. Treasury is also allowing Google and Yahoo to sell other communications software, and members of the Green Movement claim they are in talks with U.S. officials about how to move forward. State Dept officials are said to be participating, but I’m sure the Iranians are frustrated with them based on their behavior.
