Fear Increases over Iran Nukes
The Jerusalem Post is reporting that the fear of Iran’s nuclear program has increased in Jordan and Egypt.
“Egypt and Jordan are growingly concerned with Teheran’s nuclear program, a senior defense official said this week, noting an increase in anti-Iranian rhetoric in both Arab countries.
While the increased concern in Amman and Cairo is not voiced publicly, the senior defense official said that it was helpful for Israel in garnering international support to stop Iran’s nuclear program.
“While there is not much that Jordan and Egypt can do to stop Iran, it is important for the United States and countries in Europe to hear that they, too, are concerned with Iran’s nuclear program,” the official said.”

Analysis. This is to be expected. Jordan has already been the recipient of a sarin gas attack courtesy of El Queda via Syria. Egypt just recently broke up Hezbollah cells in the country. Egypt is the only power in the Middle East other than Israel that can defeat a combination of Hezbollah and Syria attacking south against Israel. the Jordanian Army is not big enough to take on the Syrians unless reinforced by Egypt. Egypt and Jordan must be removed from the array of forces opposing those forces, Syria and Hezbollah, that should be focused on destroying Israel.
Undoubtedly this message was given to President Obama by Netanyahu. That may have something to do with the changed tone of the relationship between Israel and the United States.
