Iran Scientist Helped US for ‘Years’

Posted by Matthew Avitabile On July - 16 - 2010

The AFP is reporting that the Iranian scientist who was reportedly ‘kidnapped’ by the CIA has been an intelligence asset for years. This comes as Shahram Amiri claims that he is not a nuclear scientist and never helped the Americans. He apparently has been a party to one of the most controversial (and wrong) politicizations of intelligence in recent memory:

“While still in Iran, he was also one of the sources for a much-disputed National Intelligence Estimate on Iran’s suspected weapons program, published in 2007,” it further cited the officials as saying.

Perhaps this guy was a double agent, telling us what we ‘wanted’ to hear while stating that the Iranians actually had no nuclear capability or desire. In any case, either he’s lying and we got some info out of him or we’re lying, making Iran look weak.
