More Muslims Riots in France in “Sensitive Urban Zones”
Click here for my latest Pajamas Media article. This is about last week’s riots in France (which you probably didn’t hear about) after police returned fire on a casino robber and killed him. The problem was that the robber was Muslim, which sparked off days of rioting that escalated to include gunfire directed towards the police. The 751 designated “Sensitive Urban Zones,” which are primarily poor, Muslim immigrant areas, are areas where the police and government exercise little or no control.
Some updates: French President Sarkozy has declared “war” on urban violence. And yesterday, another riot happened. The police killed someone who drove through a checkpoint in Saint-Aignan, dragging a gendarme with it. The vehicle then sped up in the direction of two officers who opened fire. That should be the end of the story. The police were attacked and defended themselves, but the story doesn’t end there.
The nearby residents then rioted, continuing a pattern I discuss in my article. They looted a bakery, set three cars on fire, tore down road signs and traffic lights, and attacked the local police station with hatchets and iron bars.
