Israeli Military-Intel Contradicts Dagan on Iran Bomb
On January - 30 - 2011
Well, this is confusing. On his way out, Meir Dagan, the director of Mossad, said that Iran would not be able to build a nuclear weapon before 2015, “if that.” He later backed down a tiny bit, saying that was only based on “intelligence estimates”—but that’s what a projection should be based on.
Now, Israeli military-intelligence chief Major-General Aviv Kochavi has told the Knesset that Iran could build a bomb in 1-2 years once the decision is made. It’s not too far from Dagan’s projection, but it’s still a significant enough contradiction to make analysts wonder where the discrepancy is.
