Jordan May Go Nuclear
On January - 24 - 2009
Jordan is looking to build its first nuclear reactor by 2015. Jordan is home to lots of uranium, and imports almost all of its energy needs, so this move makes just as much economic sense as it makes strategic sense. Jordan now joins the long list of Arab countries seeking civilian nuclear energy programs that, almost certainly, are being built with Iran in mind. Whether Jordan and the other states actually plan to build nuclear weapons is not yet known, but they surely must take some comfort in knowing the infrastructure to quickly do so will soon exist.
