Stand with Us has put together a very helpful and easy-to-read Muslim Brotherhood Fact Sheet. It is easy to expose the group’s extremism by pointing to its most influential theologian, Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi, but the Brotherhood apologists will soon try to say he doesn’t represent the organization or is part of some old, dying wing. So, let’s take a look at what the official leaders have said:

The Brotherhood uses democracy, but once in power it will replace democracy with fundamentalist shariah law because it is the “true democracy.”

The ideal society would include “a campaign against ostentation in dress and loose behaviour…segregation of male and female students; private meetings between men and women, unless within the permitted degrees of relationship, to be counted as a crime for which both will be censured…prohibition of dancing and other such pastimes.” —Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna, “Five Tracts”

Sounds like a moderate group to me.
