Tanks from the Syrian government are reportedly getting closer to one of the centers of protest. The Ba’athist dictatorship has reportedly said that it believes that the demonstrations are in decline and the newest move is seeking to further decrease the protests.
According to the BBC, Syrian tanks are nearing Hama. But the regime thinks that it is winning:
An adviser to President Assad has said she believes the government has gained the upper hand over the protesters.
“I hope we are witnessing the end of the story,” Bouthaina Shaaban told the New York Times. “I think now we’ve passed the most dangerous moment. I hope so, I think so.”
And the United States is doing practically nothing.
